TerritoryPaciano is a small medieval village plunged in a lavish growth on the slopes of Petrarvella Mountain at 391 metres height.Paciano is a municipal district of the Umbrian area of the Trasimeno lake, albeit from a geographical and cultural point of view it shows affinity with both Umbria and Tuscany.
In a scenic position on the Trasimeno Lake, only 6 km away, Paciano boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, Winner of the European Union’s “Ideal Village” award, Paciano is a characteristic mediaeval village, and it is enlisted amongst the “Borghi più belli d’Italia” (most beautiful villages of Italy). Besides the Trasimeno Lake, the Chiusi lake, Montepulciano and part of Val di Chiana are all ideal tourist destination not far from here. The small village of Paciano still maintains its original medieval structure: the village walls ( more than half kilometre long ), seven towers, three ogival access doors and the historical centre placed in a type of “chessboard” plan where three parallel roads branch off, crossing characteristic small alleys. In Summer Umbria hosts cultural and gastronomic events. All these events offer the opportunity to taste genuine and characteristic local products and dishes served in the traditional “taverns”. |
